| Life After High School |
[Jun. 7th, 2007|03:23 pm] |
|
I graduated exactly a week ago but I've felt no motivation to blog about it because I don't really feel anything. I'm excited to go off to college, yes, but leaving high school wasn't a big deal for me. I'm not sad and I know that I won't miss high school, crappy classes that I'm forced to take, teachers who don't give a crap, and two-faced "friends." I didn't buy a yearbook this year and everyone was shocked and wondering how I could possibly go without a yearbook for my senior year. First, seventy dollars is a lot of money for a book of pictures of people I don't know or I don't care about. Secondly, the people I would have wanted to sign my yearbook are the people I'm actually going to make an effort to keep in touch with. I hate how people who don't like me ask me to sign their yearbooks and I hate having to come up with meaningless cliches to write into other people's books. |

| The XYZ Affair |
[May. 19th, 2007|05:03 pm] |
X, Y, Z, and I were, at one point in time, extremely close friends. Y and I, in fact, had been best friends in middle school but since high school started, Y and I have drifted apart. I've been closest with Z for the past four years, a few bumps in the road nontwithstanding. Despite that, us four would frequently hang out, we'd eat all of our lunches together, et cetera et cetera. Due to circumstances that I cannot divulge because it would contain too much identifying information, Y and I do not like each other anymore, X and Z are at odds with each other, and X and I are worried about the choices Z is currently making. Confused? Good.
The most non-humorous humorous part? Three of us are going to be wearing matching dresses that none of us like and one of us is going to be wearing a poofy white gown. Wahoo. Here's to unncecessary drama. |

| Procrastination/Senioritis |
[May. 5th, 2007|09:58 am] |
In the spirit of senioritis, I've begun to put off not only the meaningless things like homework, but big things as well. I'm making a list here in an attempt to motivate my ass.
- Get dress altered in time for Lindsey's wedding.
Make a doctor's appointment so that she can sign my health forms for college.Deposit my paycheck so that my Paizo preorder doesn't bankrupt my account.Study for calc final so that I don't start my college transcript off with an ugly grade.Make reservations for prom night.Buy contact lens solution, honey mustard pretzels for labs, and pencil lead.
- Get passport pictures taken.

| It's summer...oh wait, no... |
[Apr. 29th, 2007|04:58 pm] |
Every year, around this time, I kick myself for wanting summer to be here. My room faces the sun most of the day so it's definitely the hottest room in my house and my AC is crap. Winter couldn't come soon enough but I know that I'll hate having to wear more clothes. Catch-22 maybe?
I finally got a financial aid package from Smith. It wasn't as bad as it could've been but it definitely wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I'm just thankful that it works out because quite frankly, I don't know what I would've done if I had to go to Smith knowing that I'd only be there for one year. On a brighter note, Smith changed orientation around a bit so I will now be leaving on the night of August 27. |

| Smith |
[Apr. 21st, 2007|04:25 pm] |
I'm currently typing this from the Campus Center and I'm wondering why I'm inside on such a gorgeous day. It's sunny with fluffy blue clouds in the sky, about 72 degrees, and there's a nice breeze. Due to the storm last weekend, Smith really cranked up the heat and hasn't turned it off so I'm almost suffocating in here (and everywhere else but the houses) but I can deal. I'm having a great time and I have purchased a sweatshirt, tee shirt, lanyard, and a coffee mug
There were a few surprises. Green Street is closer to the academic buildings than I thought (a plus), the Quad really isn't as far as everyone makes it out to be (neutral), and the people here really make me feel at home. I have to admit that I didn't get paired up with the best host for me though; she lives in the quad and is really social whereas I would fit in more on Green Street. Regardless, she's really nice and I'm having fun tromping around the Quad. I'll be putting Green Street down as my first choice and I really hope to be in Tyler because it's about two inches from the science quad.
Despite the fact that the food isn't normally this great, the weather isn't usually this nice, and there won't be this much free stuff available to me in the fall, I have found the perfect place for me. It's funny because I feel completely at home here even though, as I was thinking this, I was sleeping on the floor and my back hurt like no other. |

| Weirdness |
[Apr. 12th, 2007|01:44 pm] |
I just checked Bannerweb and I have records as being an official student of Smith. That is so weird.
I don't think it's sinking in yet but seeing that made it all the more real.
Wowzers. |

| I'm officially a Smithie |
[Apr. 9th, 2007|05:12 pm] |
I sent in my deposit today so now I'm officially a member of the class of 2011. I'm so glad to be done with this mess and I'm so glad to know where I'm going next year. I'm one step closer to being an engineer so three cheers for that. I don't have a financial aid package in hand yet (grr...) but I'm hoping it works out because Smith is the only school that I got into AND has an engineering program.
Bah...money. |

| What am I doing? |
[Mar. 24th, 2007|07:06 pm] |
|
I got into Smith so I made this LJ to get onto the communities because I need information. I don't know what I'm doing yet but I managed to make the background pretty so three cheers for that. |
